Just when you think the weather has made a turn for the better, then the weather forecast suggests that this weekend there will be thundery showers on Saturday!
Peppard Stoke Row v 1s
The 1s were on the road at Peppard Stoke Row and after losing the toss were asked to bat first. Jem Bains (29) and Kamran Zaki (43) put on a solid opening partnership of 78 and everyone else contributed at least double figures but didn’t go on to build that big individual score.
Ascot finished on a respectable 240 for 7 on a decent track. Rudi Derbyshire was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 32.
Peppard stated in fifth gear from the off with openers Tappan (44) and Nutt (54) putting on 88. The momentum continued with Vaughan-Danies (44) and Sedgwick saw them home with 78 not out to win comfortably by 6 wickets with more than 9 overs remaining.
2s v Thatcham Town 2
Thatcham Town were the visitors at the Racecourse Ground. Tom Clarke won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. At 71 for 0 it looked like the visitors were enjoying that decision, before Rhys Williams was caught by the skipper off Tim Howson for 50 off 29 balls.
After that dismissal, Thatcham lost several wickets to be at 86 for 4 but Edward Wylie held the innings together with 54 aided by Pradeep Yathiraja (29), to get them to 196 all out. Saria Muhammad with 3 for 16 and Tom Clarke with 3 for 30 were the pick of the Ascot bowling attack.
Ascot got off to a slower start with Deep Mohain out for 11 but the streaming of the match also ended abruptly!

Ascot were always behind the run rate and lost wickets at regular levels. Thanks to Joseph Summers (42 not out) and Callum Bulley (26 not out) were able to make the score more respectable as Ascot lost by 14 runs reaching 182 for 8.
Yathiraja (3 for 20) and Rhys Williams (3 for 37) were the pick of the Thatcham attack.
3s v Reading 3
Reading were the visitors at Locks Ride and were asked to bat first. Reading started well with Ankit Sharma (28) and Vikas Singh (49) but then lost a couple of quick wickets.
But Sarang Ravindra (79 not out) and Graham Cassie (55) helped Reading reach a strong total of 257 for 5 off 40 overs.
In reply Ascot were soon in trouble at 19 for 2 but Waqas Ashraf (49) and Saqib Bhatti (38) helped put on a 100 for the third wicket before falling in quick succession.
Ascot continued to keep chasing with Ashwin Vasudevan (35) with Ascot requiring 57 off 6 overs. This became 49 off 5 overs, 36 off 4 overs and then 28 off 3 overs – so all 3 results were in play.
The next 2 overs then went for 14, leaving Ascot 14 off the final over with Sadiq Khan still at the crease and all 9 fielders on the boundary.
