Phase 1 and 2a Funding

We would like to say a special thanks to the following:

Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Community Grant

Heathrow Community Fund

RACC’s clubhouse project was awarded the donation under the Heathrow Community Fund’s Heathrow Active People Initiative (HAPi), run in partnership with Heathrow Airport.

James Clement one of our members volunteered to assist the clubhouse and patio refurbishment, applying for this grant as a Heathrow Airport employee.

Heathrow Community Fund is part of an independent grant making charity set up by Heathrow to support and strengthen local communities close to the airport. In the past two years it has donated more than £1 million through it’s three main grant programmes, with funds coming from an annual donation from the airport, fines imposed on aircraft that breach noise limits, Heathrow colleagues who raise funds for us, and John Lewis.

The Next Phase

Our Club is growing at such a rapid rate because our Community sees how successful our Colts’ Coaching Programme.

This is incredibly exciting for us but means we have to overcome some funding issues as we seek to improve facilities and the ground. Much of our money comes from subscriptions, charity events and specific sponsorships.

Prudent financial management has allowed us to continue maintaining the outfield and complete Phases 1, 2a and 2b of the pavilion.

Royal Ascot Cricket Club is seeking business partners to support the next phase including

  • Creating an additional pitch so we can use the ground for more Colts and Senior matches and run more coaching sessions and corporate hospitality games
  • Sponsorship of various programmes to further Youth and Senior Cricket in the Community

Unique location

We enjoy a unique location, within the perimeter of Royal Ascot Racecourse, nestled amidst a wide variety of flora and fauna protected as a designated wildlife heritage site. Her Majesty Queen Victoria gave permission in 1883 for the formation of a cricket club with the proviso that subscription fees had to be moderate to allow everyone to play. Throughout its history, the club has been indebted to the Ascot Authority for their continued cooperation and assistance. Over the years the club has toured to Jersey, Ireland and the Cotswolds and has played host to visiting sides from Australia, Italy and just recently our Under 13s hosted a match against their Swiss counterparts.

Fantastic coaching and playing opportunities

We currently provide Coaching to seven local primary schools during the summer term with sponsorship from Chance to Shine and Vitality.  We can see the difference our coaching is making too many year three and four children in terms of confidence, self belief and excitement for the game, plus encouraging more girls to take up the sport.

We focus on character and resilience in that we see losing just as important as winning. We encourage our players to look inwards as well as outwards when we have difficult matches in order to understand how we personally contribute to the team.

Our vision for expansion

Our commitment to bettering the community drives everything we do and we are grateful for the support we currently receive from the Ascot Authority, Vitality, local businesses and parents.  Ascot Racecourse Community Fund is the Senior Team shirt sponsor for the 2020 season and Vitality is the the Colts Teams sponsor.

In the last nine years we’ve achieved more than in the previous forty in terms of our support for girls and colt cricket. This is due to an awareness in the Community that cricket is a fantastic sport for all.

We have launched two girls teams in 2018 and we’re reaching out to the various retirement communities to encourage them to come and join us. Having a new Pavilion is a priority. We commissioned architects to design a Pavilion for the next generation of cricketers and they have come up with a versatile space that will allow us to contribute much more to the Community, with a facility which will be available for hire in the heart of a beautiful heath.

Sponsorships, Advertising and Donations

We are looking for a variety of contributors. In our world, every pound matters and you can be assured it will be put to good use and your support recognised.

Here’s a current view of what we need, but we are open to conversations with other ideas and opportunities:

General Fundraising

  • Local personalities willing to come along and coach our players or support us in our fundraising by donating time or contributing to press and media work, or hosting a corporate hospitality charity cricket match
