The U15 Boys run in the Cup ended against a strong Crown Taverners. After making 127 for 6 with Vishal making 32 and Toby 20, Crown Taverners won by 5 wickets with 4 overs to spare, with Thomas taking 3 for 23.
The Women’s team was knocked out of the Plate competition against a very strong Emmbrook & Bearwood side, as they won by 69 runs.
However, the T20 team had a good win in the midweek league against Sandhurst as they won by 34 runs. Ascot made 152 for 6 with GK Reddy making 78 and in response Sandhurst reached 118 for 6.
Cove 2 v 1s
The 1s crossed the county border to Cove. Cove won the toss and elected to bat first. Cove started slowly but surely as Thomas Hyde 32 and Gavin Sinclair put on 79 for the second wicket. Thomas Lynch 23 and Andrew Short 43 helped give the innings impetus as they finished on 208 for 7 on a good track. Razwan Hanif took 3 for 34.
Ascot started off quickly and the innings was built on a second wicket stand of 112 by Mike Breet and Razwan Hanif 60. After Razwan fell, Ghulam Mirza 32 not out and Mike Breet 72 not out saw Ascot home by 8 wickets.
2s v Binfield 3
The 2s never really got out of the stalls as Binfield were the visitors at the Racecourse. Ascot won the toss and elected to bat first. 7 batters got into double figures with Tom Clarke top scoring with 41 but reached a very under par score of 154 all out.
In response Binfield made quick work with Stephen Jeffrey 59 not out and Andy Mills 58 seeing Binfield home by 7 wickets.
3s v Fleet 2
Fleet were the visitors at Locks Ride and elected to bat first on winning the toss. The top 6 all made contributions with Swaroop Panigrahi top scoring with 52, helping Fleet reach a competitive 208 for 6.
In reply, Ascot kept ahead of the run rate with Mavir Ghaliwal 85, Usman Mumtaz 45 and Sadiq Khan 41 seeing Ascot home to a 5 wicket victory.
Maidenhead & Bray 5 v 4s
The 4s went to Phoenix Taplow to face Maidenhead & Bray 5. Ascot won the toss and elected to field first. Maidenhead were soon in trouble at 83 for 7, but a remarkable recovery by Shahbaz Khan 92 and Ahsan Malik 78 not out off 59 balls batting at 9 saw Maidenhead & Bray reach a formidable 236 for 8. Gyan Patel was the pick of the Ascot bowling attack with 3 for 38.
Ascot were soon in trouble at 21 for 3, but Richard Ellison 43 and Elliot Mills 32 steadied the ship. But the run-rate was increasing despite a rapid 63 from Ander Smith.
However, with wickets falling as well, Ascot needed 16 off the last over with one wicket remaining, with Richard (Red Inker) Baker and Gyan Patel the last pair in. Anjush Srinivas was tasked to bowl that final over.
