On Wednesday, Ascot played in the Bracknell T20 Plate Final against Wokingham 2s. This was the third final in a row for Ascot and thankfully the result finally went the right way after two defeats.
Ascot batted first and made 202 for 5 off 18 overs thanks to G K Reddy 81 and Ben Churchyard’s 45. Wokingham stayed in the hunt for the first 10 overs but with Razwan Hanif taking 3 for 25, Wokingham finished on 158 for 7 despite 45s from Akshat Dhanda and David Barson.
Kidmore End v Women
Ascot played a very strong Kidmore End side and were on the wrong end of a 68 run defeat. Despite that it has been a very positive season for the Women’s team.
1s v Cove 2
Cove were the visitors to Ascot and elected to field first on winning the toss. Tight bowling and fielding and an indifferent batting performance saw Ascot struggle to 144 all out with 8 overs remaining. Dan Mallett 42 and Joseph Summers 30 were the only highlights from a disappointing batting performance. Matt Farr took 4 for 46 for Cove.
In reply Cove were in no hurry and absorbed the pressure from Ascot’s bowling and fielding knowing they had 56 overs to get to the total. Archie Smith with 68 not out saw Cove home by 6 wickets and 11 overs remaining. Razwan Hanif took 3 for 42 for Ascot.
Binfield 3 v 2s
The 2s went to Waltham St Lawrence CC to face Binfield. Ascot won the toss and elected to field. Binfield scored a massive 261 for 7 off 45 overs thanks to Stephen Jeffery making 105. James Summers took 4 for 36 for Ascot.
In response, Ascot never looked like chasing the total down and were bowled out for 144 all out. Billy Baker making 40, while Taran Kiri took 3 for 20.
Fleet 2 v 3s
Ascot made the trip down the M3 to Fleet. Ascot won the toss and elected to field first. Luke Whiting top scored with 37, one of five batters to get into double figures as they were bowled out for 166.
In response, Ascot were indebted to a quick fire 70 not out from Waqar Soomro to get Ascot home by 4 wickets with over 20 overs remaining.
4s v Maidenhead & Bray 5
Maidenhead & Bray elected to field first at Locks Ride. Ascot made 250 all out thanks to Ronan Schreiber 48, Cedric Cooray 46 & Arun Chandrasekaran 43. Kritin Chatterjee took 3 for 55 for Maidenhead & Bray.
Maidenhead & Bray were up with the run rate initially but slowly fell behind towards the end and finished on 232 for 7 with Shenon De Silva finishing top scorer with 45. Mike Wyatt was the pick of the Ascot attack with 3 for 24.
