Congratulations to our Boys Under 10s team who won their league last weekend.
Finchampstead 3 v 1s
The 1s were at Finchampstead and elected to bat first. Despite the early loss of GK Reddy, the top order all contributed as Razwan Hanif 57, Kamran Hanif 50, Mike Breet 47 and Adam Smith 48 not out got Ascot to a 268 for 6. Thomas Allen was the pick of the Finch attacj with 4 for 46.
Finch were in the run chase throughout their innings thanks to Ben Simmons 84 and Louis Crerar 52. But despite a quick fire 40 not out from Abdullah Iqbal, Ascot won by 9 runs. Adam Smith was the pick of the Ascot attack with 4 for 43.
2s v Bagshot 2
With only one team going down this was an important relegation battle. Bagshot were let down by a couple of players so could only play with 10.
Bagshot won the toss and elected to bat first. Early wickets meant that Bagshot were in danger of a low total but Josh Nakarja making 51 helped Bagshot to a respectable 167 for 8.
In response, Ascot started well but when Dan Corsini was out for 55 then Ascot started losing wickets at regular intervals. Jack Barley stopped the rot with 39 not out and with Rajiv Docker saw Ascot home with 4 wickets and just over 8 overs to spare to give Ascot some breathing space at the bottom of the table.
3s v Theale & Tilehurst 3
The 3s were at league leaders Theale & Tilehurst who had won 11 out of 14 matches so far. Ascot won the toss and elected to field first.
Some great bowling and fielding led by Naeem Mohammad’s 5 for 19 restricted Theale & Tilehurst to 145 for 9 off 40 overs, despite opener Savir Sharma’s 61.
In the end, Ascot made light work as they reached the total with 6 wickets and over 18 overs to spare with Hassan Sohail 52 and Jacob Parry 34 leading the way.
Wraysbury 4 v 4s
The 4s were away to their nearest rivals in the title race. Wraysbury won the toss and elected to field first. Ascot were indebted to captain Elliot Mill’s 81 to make 195 for 6 off 40 overs.
In response Wraysbury were in control of the run chase with all the top 6 in double figures with Yash Khosla making 66. A couple of quick wickets at the end gave Ascot hope but Wraysbury won with over 3 overs and 3 wickets remaining, to keep the title chase alive.
