Last Saturday saw a total wipeout of all 4 league matches – a blip in what until now had only seen 2 league matches called off before then.
With that, it is worth taking stock of where the teams are with two league weekends to go.
1st XI
The 1s are currently in 2nd position. The only match that took place last weekend was Newbury v Emmbrook & Bearwood, with Emmbrook & Bearwood winning by 9 runs to see them 28 points clear at the top of the table. A win against Wokingham 3s this weekend will see them guaranteed the league title.
The 2nd position spot is very close with Ascot only 8 points ahead of White Waltham and 23 points of Newbury. White Waltham and Newbury play against each other this weekend in a must-win scenario for both sides in the fight for 2nd place. Ascot are on the road with a tough trip to Eversley 2s followed by a final match against Emmsbrook & Bearwood. All to play for.
2nd XI
The 2s will remain in Level 6 next season with only one team relegated. This weekend they will be at home to league leaders Aldershot 2s who are all but promoted (they need 1 point) but will want to keep their league title charge going with a win as they only have a 13 point advantage over Yateley 1s.
The 2s will finish the season on the road at Theale & Tilehurst 2s.
3rd XI
The 3s are in 3rd position, but a top 2 promotion spot is unrealistic as they are 32 points behind Cookham Dean and it is a close division as there are only 47 points between Ascot and bottom placed Fleet 2s so every match matters.
The 3s are at home to Hurst 3s in 7th place who will want a win to move away from relegation and then the final match will be away to 6th place Thatcham Town 3s.
4th XI
The 4s finish their season tomorrow and as long as they play against Slough Academy (and yes we do have a team and several players on standby!) then they will not only have been promoted but also win the league title based on average points per match.
They have had a very strong season led well by Elliot Mills and they will all be at the main club for the final weekend to support the 1s and celebrate their title.
