Week 12 – Barley at Braywood the only bright spot

1s v Ickenham 2

League leaders Ickenham were the visitors at the Racecourse. Ickenham won the toss and elected to field first. Ascot started brightly, losing Daniel Mallett caught on the deep square leg boundary. But Ariyen Patel kept things tight and Ascot started to lose wickets regularly as he took 5 for 28 as Ascot subsided from 65 for 1 to 98 for 6. Rahul Singh (51) and Tamoor Hussain (13) offered resistance until the latter was run out and Ascot fell to 132 all out off 37 overs.

Ickenham started confidently despite the loss of Noah Mungrue and looked in a strong position at 98 for 1. But wickets started to fall as Hamit Godami (36) and chirpy Arron Davies (62) fell to the Hanif brothers. Despite Rahul then claiming 3 quick wickets for 14, Ickenham got over the line with 3 wickets in hand. An opportunity lost for Ascot as another 30 – 40 runs would have made the match more interesting.

Braywood 2 v 2s

Ascot made the trip to Braywood and elected to field on winning the toss. Wickets fell regularly as opening bowlers Tim Howson and Rajiv Docker took 2 a piece, but the innings was held together by Uzairuddin Mohammad with a run a ball 81. He was the 8th wicket to go and with Rahul Mohindru mopping up the tail with 4 for 44, Braywood were all out for 186 with 2 balls remaining.

Ascot never looked in trouble as Toby Dodwell-Bennett (42), Gowtham Yeramanasetti (36) and Aum Shivshanker (22) saw Ascot on the way to the target and Jack Barley (46 not out) finished the game to see Ascot home by 5 wickets and 19 overs remaining.

Datchet 3 v 3s

Ascot made the trip to Windsor and elected to bat first on winning the toss. The only bright spot was young opener Elliot Cameron making 59 as only one other batter got into double figures as Ascot finished 154 all out. Faaris Ali took 5 for 24 for Datchet.

In response the Ascot bowling had no answer as Haris Asmie (70 not out) and Faaris Ali (71 not out) eased Datchet to a 10 wicket win.

4s v Datchet 4

A similar story unfolded at Locks Ride, as Datchet won the toss and elected to field. Ascot could only make 106 all out as Ishaan Banerjee topped scored with 21. Rana Ali did the damage with 6 for 8.

Datchet strolled to victory losing only one wicket as Krunal Patel (50 not out) and Pete Singh (27 not out) saw Datchet home.
