The weather played a major factor – although in the end all 4 matches went ahead.

The 1s visited Beaconsfield, who won the toss and elected to bat. The middle order enabled Beaconsfield to reach a very respectable score of 171 for 9 off 47 overs. Odedra 62, Heavyside 43 and Richardson 28 being the main contributors. Will Ellison and Mike Brown bowled well without much success but Kevin May with 4 for 56 and 3 run-outs restricted the home side.

At 49 for 1, things looked comfortable but that became 50 for 5 and a survival for the draw the only option. Kendall 28 and Sweetman 20 got us off to a good start but the draw was down to Andy Murray 25 and Nick Wiggett’s 7 not out as we finished on a disappointing 102 for 9.

The 2s were at home to Maidenhead & Bray 2s. Winning the toss M&B were asked to bat and this looked a good decision as they only made 92 all out with Tom Wilding’s 41 providing the only resistance as Joshua Oshea 4 for 34 and Saeed Ahmed 4 for 33 made the difference.

However, the 2s didn’t have it their own way as M&B made scoring difficult and Ascot got over the line for the loss of 6 wickets, as Arup Vidyerthy 28 and Joshua Oshea 23* being the main contributors.

The 3s at home to Aldershot 3s suffered a delayed start and were inserted after losing the toss. They scrambled to 114 all out in the last over with Jack Lunghusen 32 being top scorer but none of the batsman looked comfortable.

But Aldershot also found it difficult and the match was in the balance at 57 for 6 with Jack Lunghusen taking 4 for 38. Some good batting at the end by Jackson Brown 34 not out saw Aldershot get a batting point but they ended up on 102 for 6 for the draw.

The 4s travelled to Eversley 4s and were put into bat by the opposition. The rain caused a delay during the innings but Gary Clarke’s 61 allowed Ascot to build a good total of 155 all out.

Anup Urath gave Eversley hope with his 55 but in the end Lewis Sullivan 6 for 45 and Ian Warren 3 for 8 bowled out Eversley for 103 for Ascot to secure only their second win.
