On Monday night, the Under 13s hosted the Oxfordshire Cup holders – Cublington CC at the Racecourse Ground for a Last 32 match in the NatWest National Under 13 Championship.
Ascot won the toss and elected to bat first on a hard, pacey track and a quick outfield despite all the rain. With a 6pm start a pink ball was used in both innings.
Ascot batted very week and kept the momentum going throughout the innings to finish with a competitive 170 for 4 including a 30 retired not out from Joshua Jayasingh.
Cublington came into bat and faced a very motivated bowling and fielding attack – and they just couldn’t get any momentum going. In the end Cublington were 24 all out in 9 overs. Oscar Pincus with 6 wickets and Alex Goderski with 4 wickets doing all the damage.
So next week, on Thursday 3 August, Royal Ascot will be in the London & East Regional Finals to be held at St Albans School & Old Albanians CC.
At 10.30am they will play the semi-final against Hertforshire Cup holders Shenley Village.
If they win that match they will play the Regional Final at 2.15pm against either Middlesex Cup holder – Eastcote CC or the Kent Cup holders – Linton Park CC.
We wish the Under 13s all the best next week and everyone is welcome to go along and support! The address is:
Woollams Playing Fields, 160 Harpenden Road, St Albans, AL3 6BB.
