97 matches scheduled – 97 matches cancelled. Rain 97 – Cricket 0. The much anticipated start to the Thames Valley Cricket League ended up being washed out.
However, there was some cricket in the past week. The T20 side lost a close Cup match against Emmbrook & Bearwood. Ascot made 151 for 6 with Michael Breet top scoring with 45. Emmbrook made the total with 1 over and 6 wickets to spare.
The Sunday side lost a rather one sided affair against Maidenhead & Bray. Maidenhead & Bray made 162 for 9 off 40 overs with Sameer Manchanda top scoring with 38 and Tom Clarke took 4 for 17 – just missing out of a 5 wicket haul on a hat-trick ball.
In reply, the only resistance came from a Tom Clarke with a swashbuckling 58 which helped Ascot reach in the end a respectable 104 all out.
The colts have also managed to get some games in. The Under 9 Lions lost to Woking & Horsell but the Under 13s got off to a good start with an 87 run win against Boyne Hill.
Hopefully the weather gods will be kinder this week and month.
