Week 12 saw a mixed bag of results for the 4 Senior teams. The 1s were away at Falkland 2s and batted first. Despite the early loss of Gamble and Sweetman, Ascot put on an imposing total of 279 for 5 dec off 46 overs with great innings from Warren Miller 107 not out off 117 balls, Jack Kendall 95 off 105 balls and Jack Lunghusen 49 off 31 balls.

Kevin May was again devastating with ball with a great spell of 7 for 52 but ably supported by the rest of the bowling attack including Nick Wiggett taking the critical wicket of Graham Beal for 86. a 25 point win cementing 2nd place and 9 points behind the next fixture – leaders Thatcham Town away.

The 2s had a poor day. After bowling Chiswick & Whitton 3s out for 141 with an inspired spell by Saeed Ahmed 6 for 28, Ascot’s batting let them down as they subsided to 111 all out. They remain top of the table as 2nd placed Wargrave 2s visit on Saturday.

The 3s endured the same fate being bowled out for 105 against Yateley 3s with only Murray Barter providing resistance with a fine 60. The opposition knocked the runs off for 3 wickets. Fortunately the 3s remain top as they visit Eversley 3 away.

The 4s had a winning draw away to second placed Windsor 4s. Despite being put in on a wet wicket Jon Prowse 58 and Tom Clarke 110 put on a magnificent opening stand and a quick fire 62 from Chris Nichol allowed Ascot to declare on 283 for 4 in 45 overs.

On a wicket that turned out good, Windsor 4s never looked like being bowled out or reaching the total and finished on 164 for 6 woth Oberai last man out for 56. The 8A table  looks intriguing with Bracknell 2 stretching their lead at the top of the table but there are only 19 points between 2nd placed Windsor and 5th placed Ascot. Ascot are at home against Eversley 4s this Saturday.

Colts round up – The Under 11s reached the West Surrey Cup Final but it has now been delayed to the end of August after rain washed out play on Sunday. The Under 11s also reached the semi-finals of the West Surrey League. The Under 9s now have to wait to see if they will make the Berkshire League semi-finals after finishing joint top of their division.
