West Surrey Under 11 2015 Cup Champions

West Surrey U11 Cup Winners 2015

So an exciting Under 11 Cup Final last Sunday saw Royal Ascot against East Molesey. Ascot batted first and despite a difficult pitch because of the bad weather we’ve had recently and some great bowling from East Molesey’s county bowlers we made a competitive total of 108 for 8 off 20 overs. This total was reached based on great innings by opener Sam Negus, who top scored with 31 (retired) and Charlie Dunnett with a quick 26 in the middle order. East Molesey’s spinner took five wickets in his four overs.
When East Molesey batted, our opening bowlers, Sam Brewster and Alex Goderski, bowled four overs and conceded just 13 and 11 runs respectively.  This meant East Molesey were always behind the run rate and then our spin trio of Leo Beardmore-Grey, Sam Evans and leading wicket taker Oscar Pincus could tighten the screw and they bowled us to victory as they restricted East Molesey to 86 for 6 off their 20 overs. Sam Evans picked up three wickets, and wicket kepper Sam Negus took three stumpings and a catch.
A great day and win for the boys and a big thank you to East Molesey for hosting a great match.

Next Sunday is the West Surrey League semi-finals and finals play-off day being hosted at Cranleigh Cricket Club. In the morning we will face in the semi-final East Molesey (again!) while Cranleigh play Guildford in the other semi-final with the final being held in the afternoon. All the best to the Under 11s!
