So the season is done and dusted but three of our colts teams played in late September for final honours.
The Under 13s who had a great season were away at Slough for the League Final. Batting first on a wet outfield they posted a competitive 98 for 8 in the conditions and while they bowled and fielded well, they lost by 5 wickets in the 19th over.
The Under 9s played Teddington for the West Surrey League title. Batting first they put on a formidable 322 for 6 in 16 overs. Another great bowling and fielding display saw them keep Teddington down to 264 for 11 to complete the Double!
Finally the Under 10s were in a 3 way play-off final. The first match was between Horsley & Send and Farnham was a close affair and Farnham won by just 2 runs.
The second match was between Ascot and Farnham and amazingly ended in a tie with both sides finishing on 297.
So everything was set up for Ascot against Horsley & Send, with Ascot needing a good win to take the title on net run rate. Unfortunately, Horsley & Send conceded. After discussions with the league it was agreed that Farnham and Royal Ascot be declared joint winners of the West Surrey Under 10 Championship – to cap off a great season for Royal Ascot with an unprecedented five titles.
Many thanks to Nigel Brewster, our Colts Chairman, the managers, scorers and all the helpers associated with the teams, the parents for turning out in all weathers for coaching sessions and matches and finally all the colts for their hard effort and enthusiasm throughout the season.
A final thanks should go to Mark & Judy Wiggett – for bar and hot drink duties and their support for all the teams. Let’s make 2018 even better!
