Vitality U15 National Cup – Regional Finals

On Sunday evening the Under 15s faced Great Brickhill for a place in the London & East Regional Finals.

Great Brickhill won the toss and elected to bat first. Ascot used 8 bowlers to keep the strong opening partnership guessing and were rewarded with a strong fielding performance to keep the run rate at 6 an over.

Luke Lathwell was eventually stumped for 35 and Ethan Turner caught and bowled for 44 by Charlie Dunnett. Ascot kept the pressure up and Great Brickhill finished on 119 for 3 off 20 overs. Samm Daniel was the stand-out bowler with figures of 4 overs for just 9 runs.

Ascot were soon in trouble as both openers went back with little on the scoreboard soon to be followed by Billy Baker but a fourth wicket partnership between Charlie Dunnett 53 retired not out and Samm Daniel 32 saw Ascot to within sight of the winning line as they reached the total with 6 wickets and 9 balls to spare.

The Under 15s now go on to the London & East Regional Finals held at Horsham CC, on Monday 30 July. The semi-final is at 10.30am against Middlesex champions Richmond CC. The winner will then play the final in the afternoon either against Kent champions Broadstairs CC or Suffolk champions Copdock & Old Ipswichian CC.

Supporters are welcome to go and watch.
