Week 14 – Take Five

This week the 1s had a spare weekend following the withdrawal of Yateley 1s. The 2s were at home to league leaders Binfield.

It was a one-sided affair as Tom Andrews took 6 for 11 and Ascot were all out for 96 with Jason Carr top scoring with 25. The visitors knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket.

The 3s were away at Kidmore End and suffered a similar fate. Batting first they went from 70 for 3 but then collapsed to 98 all out. Jacob Parry top scored with 29 and Azhar Udeen picked up 5 for 32.

Kidmore End reached the total with the loss of 4 wickets thanks to 41 from Andrew Thomsen.

The 4s had a tough task ahead of them against Wargrave 3s. They won the toss and elected to field. After 6 overs with Wargrave on 65 for 0 this looked to have backfired but then the bowling and fielding improved with the welcome return of Afzal Siddiqui taking a great 5 for 30 as Wargrave finished on 151 all out off 31 overs. Taran Sohi top scored with 43.

The 4s lost early wickets but thanks to the wonderful world of Disney scoring 42 and Rob Phillips 36, the 4s got back on track and the lower order started to chip in. Neal Feely 13 not out and super skipper Richard Wyatt 4 not out saw the 4s home to a great victory by 2 wickets and 32 balls to spare. Kevin Rapley 3 for 34 was the best of the bowling from the visitors.

So the 4s got a great win while the rest of the club had a weekend that they would rather forget for a number of reasons – but as the saying doesn’t go – I plead rule 2.1.8.

This weekend, we revert to the Win / Lose format and 12.30pm starts. The fixtures are:

1s v Wargrave 1s (Home)

2s v Newbury 1s (Away)

3s v Yateley 2s (Home @ Lock’s Ride)

4s v Hayes 3s (Away)
