Week 8 – Pressure

The 1s lost heavily to Henley 2s on Saturday and we’ll draw a line at that!

The 2s were on the road to Falkand 3s. The 2s were put into bat on a good wicket and with contributions from Samm Daniel 57 not out, Billy Baker 50, Jason Carr 47 and Jem Bains 35 put on an impressive 311 for 8 declared off 50 overs.

However, in response Falkland comfortably reached a draw in with 249 for 5 off 50 overs in reply thanks to 91 from Stephen Clarke and 64 from Ben Thomas. Mike Wyatt was pick of the Ascot bowlers with 3 for 43.

The 3s were at Locks Ride against Maidenhead & Bray 3s. On winning the toss they elected to bat first and put on a strong 296 all out off 49.5 overs. The damage was done by Ian Richards 82 and Disney Abeyeseraka 79. In response Wyatt Michaux tool 4 for 52.

In the end, Maidenhead & Bray found the total beyond them and ended 150 all out off 35.5 overs. Tim “Wang Chung” Howson taking 5 for 53 for the bowling honours with M&Bs Swapnil Machanda top scoring with 38.

The 4s were over at Aldermaston to play Theale & Tilehurst 3s. Theale won the toss and elected to bat first. In a low scoring affair they won by 13 runs as they made 113 all out with Khadim Aslam top scoring with 33. But Ascot could only make 100 all out in reply with Richard Wyatt top scoring on 18.

For Ascot, the pick of the bowlers were Afzal Siddiqui’s 4 for 14 and Naeem’s 4 for 18 while the wickets were shared amongst the Theale & Tilehurst attack.

Week 9 marks the halfway mark of the league season with the following fixtures:

1s v Reading 1s (Away)

2s v Henley 3s (Home)

3s v Kidmore End 2s  (Away)

4s v Boyne Hill 4s (Home)

Colts results for the last week include:

U13s beat Bagshot Knights by 27 runs

U9 Tigers lost to Normandy by 11 runs

U12s beat Horsley & Send by 3 wickets

Under 10B beat Richmond Under 11 Girls by 25 runs

Under 11 Academy lost to Valley End by 3 runs

Under 14s lost by 62 runs to Windsor
