Week 8 – Compliance

Kidmore End v 1s

Kidmore End won by 116 runs. No further comment on this result but if you wish to see what happened then the match is available to view at https://www.youtube.com/live/wbYlOaEpSN4?feature=share. For some reason the video starts over 6 hours into the match but you can scroll back to the beginning.

2s v Slough 4

Due to the Royal Ascot meeting the 2s were at Locks Ride. Slough won the toss and elected to bowl first. For the third week running it was that man Jeremy Wing who held the innings together with 74 to help Ascot reach 173 for 10 off 52 overs.

Slough were able to reach the target comfortably by 5 wickets and just under 10 overs remaining.

Theale & Tilehurst 3 v 3s

The 3s made the trip to Theale and were asked to bat first. Waqas Ashraf (51) and Dirk Benneyworth provided the innings with strong momentum at the top of the innings but the tail were unable to wag and Ascot were all out for 172 in 40 overs.

Theale were able to make light work as Abdullah Nadeem with 83 not out eased them to a 9 wicket victory with more than 13 overs remaining.

4s v Maidenhead & Bray 4

With less than a week before the match, we were informed by the ground where we were meant to play that they had double-booked and would not honour our booking.

The ground was given to another club based in Reading – over 20 miles from the actual ground… but that is a point of discussion for another day.

Having tried over a dozen local grounds we looked like we had to forfeit the fixture but thanks to our opponents – Maidenhead & Bray – they managed to find us a ground and get the game on. A massive thank you to them for helping us out and playing in the true “Spirit of Cricket”.

Maidenhead & Bray won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite 5 players getting into double figures they had to thank No.10 Tom Allen top scoring with 31 to get them to 152 all out with one over remaining.

Ahmer Mughal was the star of the 4s attack with 4 for 9.

Neal Feely starred with the bat for Ascot as his match winning 65 not out helping Ascot win by 5 wickets and just over 7 overs remaining, with skipper Richard Wyatt winning two on the bounce.

Again a big thanks to Maidenhead & Bray for helping us get the match on.
