After a gallant performance by the Under 15s at Finchampstead CC on Tuesday night, our Under 13s entertained Valley End CC in their semi-final match.
Ascot batted first and had set up a good platform at 47 for 1 off 10 overs. But good Valley End bowling and fielding restricted them to 93 for 8 off 20 overs.
At 21 for 0 in the fourth over, Valley End made a strong start but then 3 wickets in 3 balls saw them finish the over on 21 for 3 and the game in the balance again. At the half way stage they were 45 for 5 but the Ascot bowling and fielding were too strong and they bowled Valley End out for 54 to complete a 39 run victory.
On Friday evening, the Under 11s went to Shinfield CC for their semi-final and batted first. They put on an impressive 161 for 8 off 20 overs with Jacob, Bill and Ben all retired.
In the end the total was beyond Shinfield as Ascot maintained their impressive performance with a great bowling and fielding performance to restrict Shinfield to 61 for 9 off 20 overs and complete a 100 run win.
The finals will be held at Slough Cricket Club on Sunday 8 September with the Under 11s in action at 10am and the Under 13s at 2pm.
