Selection was the main issue in Week 16. Our 4s could not raise a side so had to concede against Bagshot 3 and that result means the 4s are relegated to Level 9 next season.
The 1s were at home to Bagshot 1s. Bagshot won the toss and elected to field. Ascot lost wickets regularly until the partnership between James Gamble 92 not out and Will Ellison 38 saw Ascot reach a respectable 200 for 7 off 50 overs.
But that was never enough as an unbeaten second wicket partnership between Jack Grinstead 103 not out and Andrew Doyle 74 not out saw Bagshot cruise to victory with over 12 overs remaining.
While it is still mathematically possible for the 1s to stay up that result in likelihood sees the 1s back in Level 3 next season.
The 2s were the visitors at top of the table Eversley 2s. Eversley won the toss and elected to field.
The middle order including Ben Clark 35 and Jason Carr 35 helped Ascot to 166 all out but a higher score was on the cards until the middle and lower order were blown away by Joe Howorth’s 6 for 32.
Eversley then finished off the job in 21 overs for the loss of 4 wickets as Matthew Martin 57 and Harry Leach 49 not out ensure the win for promotion.
The 3s were at home to title chasing Wargrave 3s. Wargrave won the toss and elected to field. Opener Murray Barter 63 and Disney Abeyesekara 35 were the only batsmen to reach double figures as Ascot reached 155 all out.
Wargrave led by James Newton’s 53 won with 5 wickets and 4 overs to spare.
Week 17 will be a pivotal week as the 2s and 3s need to ensure that they finish in the top 7 to ensure that they are not relegated as the lowest point scoring 8th position team – with the likelihood of a team being promoted to Level 4 from the Berkshire, Chilterns and Mid Bucks Premier League.
